People where scared with Deadpool when it first came out, and that is understandable with the characters debut in the first Wolverine movie. Fox has had some hits with the mutant Franchise but a lot of misses. Deadpool was that big hit and lets be honest, X-men one is a good movie but some of the lines can not stand the test of time. Who can forget that line they gave Halley Berry? But it was the one that launched out favorite mutant heros.
Nowfast forward and now we have our third installment to the wolverine franchise which is Hugh Jackmans last outing as the character. He did an interview with Digital Spy and said:
“When you see the full movie you’ll understand. Not only is it different in terms of timeline and tone, it’s a slightly different universe. It’s actually a different paradigm and that will become clear.”
“I said this was my last one and they said make the movie you want to make. And so Jim and I had this blank canvas and we wanted to make something really different. Definitely tonally different, I kept thinking The Wrestler, Unforgiven. It’s a stand alone movie in many ways. It’s not really beholden to time lines and story lines in the other movies. Obviously Patrick Stewart was in there so we have some crossover but it feels very different and very fresh.
“[Following the timelines] becomes a chess game that you try to serve, which actually doesn’t help to tell a story and it’s sort of been a bit all over the place. I’m not critical of it – X-Men was the first movie really in comic book, no one thought there’d be another and there were different directors different off shoots.”
So it sounds like he and the Director James Mangold want to deliver the Wolverine movie we have been waiting for. That Trailer has definitely driven interest and if it does well Deadpool and Logan will serve as an Example when Fox Execs don’t get invovled to much or if not at all with their Marvel Movie properties. So hearing that this movie will be in an alternate reality and nothing to do with the current X-men movies ( good luck following the time line) Is going to be interesting to see. My interest is peaked and I humbly wait for the release of Logan. What do you guys think?
Also with rumors of Fox considering rebooting the X-men as a spin off from a possible Deadpool 3, do you think they will recast wolverine in a rebooted universe?
